A New Controller Tuning Method Based on the Relative Damping Index

چکیده
This paper combines the use of the Harris index and the relative damping index (RDI) to give a new method for CPM-based controller tuning. The RDI is defined based on the disturbance impulse response, which is calculated as a byproduct of the Harris index. The proposed technique provides controller settings that attain the best-achievable performance by careful and systematical changing of controller parameters. The method is demonstrated on a simulation model of a steel annealing plant.
